JoJo is one of my ultimate guilty pleasures. Its one of those artists that you don't want to admit liking, but you have every song by them and bought the albums the first days they came out. Her self titled debut album featured the single "Leave (Get Out)" and "Baby Its You" and her follow up "The High Road" had the single "Too Little Too Late" and "How To Touch a Girl." Another song from that album "Note To God" was covered by Filipina artist Charice and was a chart topper.
JoJo had a lot of delays with her 3rd album "All I Want Is Everything" due to issues with her record label, but hopefully it back on track. Until then, she released the mixtape "Can't Take That Away From Me" which she described as "all over the place" and very experimental. Just like her other 2 albums, I can listen to this mixtape without skipping a song. You can tell that she wrote/co wrote all of these songs because they sound very personal. The lead single on this mixtape "In The Dark" is about just knowing a guy just "in the dark" meaning only in a sexual way. It not a slutty song though, its just about a sexual relationship that she knows is wrong and wished was more, but she knows the reality of the situation. Other standout songs on the album are "Just A Dream" "What You Like" "Boy Without a Heart" and "All I Want Is Everything." The video for "In The Dark" is below and you can hear and download the mixtape here
