[Music Video] Trey Songz-Can't be Friends

I love Trey Songz ballads because they all sound so painfully honest.  It sounds like he literally went inside his heart and wrote down what he saw.  "Can't Be Friends" is about just that, how you can't be friends with an ex because way too much has happened, and all the regrets you have because you know now there is no way they can be a part of your life.  The video is very simple, which is good because the song is so emotional a video with a storyline it would have been too much.  He is basically showing his pain and aggression in the video.  I noticed he has the same twitching motions that he had in the "Bottoms Up" video, which I don't really like and hope isn't a recurring theme in his videos for this album.  But overall a great video talking about a very real situation.

Trey Songz is definitely riding this wave of commercial success but releasing his next album only a year after "Ready" came out.  Its a smart move, as long as he remembers quality not quantity, but I'm not too worried about that.  I also hopes he puts out a mixtape before "Passion, Pain and Pleasure" like he did with "Anticipation" for "Ready" which sounds just as good, if not better than the album.
Trey has been doing a lot of power ballads and lovey dovey songs lately, but he's most echoing the success of one of his most widely commercial songs "Say Ahh" Trey comes out swinging with a club banger, which is perfect for summer.  It's a pretty okay song, I'm not crazy about it, but I think its perfect for the club and just enjoying this heat.  Nicki takes her turn and shows how she would be perfect for an animated series.  I don't think she's an awful rapper, but she definitely expresses herself and I think she really view rapping as her outlet to explore anything and everything, and I can't hate on her for that.  None of her stuff could really be described as "weak."  Even though I'm not a huge fan of the song, I'm not too worried.  "I Need a Girl" is one of my least favorite songs off "Ready" and that was the first single.  I'm not really into R & B but I'm really excited for this next album. "Ready" is surprisingly one of the albums that I can listen to front to back without skipping, which is rare in any genre.  The album is due out Sept. 14th but I feel like he's going to move it up like he did "Ready" in order to be considered for the 2011 Grammy's instead of 2012.  Plus Kanye comes out that day, lets pick our battles here.

Trey can be my Troubadour

You know how on Gilmore Girls they had the town troubadour who sang around town all the time?  Well I only know 4 people that read this blog and I'm assuming they don't watch Gilmore Girls, but lets assume that you know what a troubadour is.  Anyway if I needed a troubadour or a singing narrator in my life, it would be Trey Songz.  He has the voice that makes even the most ignorant things sound sexy. He has one of the beautiful voices ever. He can be at my wedding, whether he is the singer or the groom, I don't mind either way lol. Trey can actually sing live too.  Here is his Unplugged performance:

Randomness: I actually took Spanish in college with the guy that produced "Black Roses."  I'm not acting like I know him cuz I don't.  I didn't speak to him, but I didn't speak to anyone in that class because we had to talk in Spanish and I obviously don't know Spanish to this day lol.  But nice random fact.

Also, my favorite Unplugged is of course Jay-Z.  I actually bought the album, and so did several other people it seems, it sold over 600,000 copies and is one of the most successful Unplugged albums to date.

More on Trey: The song "Already Taken" was leaked and is supposedly on his upcoming album due in September.  Nice, typical Trey song, no complaints here.
